The dahlia is a gorgeous, dense flower of many petals arranged in a firework or starburst pattern. Colours from white to deep burgundy and everything in between, including striped and ombre toned blooms. Flowers can be simple single layered, or can consist of many layers or unusually shaped petals.
Originally from Mexico, and now the country's native flower, the Aztecs used the stalks as water pipes due to the hollow stems. They were used to treat epilepsy and the tubers were a food source.
They are a delicate flower and not super long lasting; but stunning enough to be worth it.
