If You Wait

Spanish baby blocks

Playing the waiting game at the moment. this bub is due in... days? Weeks? Hours? who knows. I  hope you don't mind if I veer off the flower path briefly. Truth is, being 2½ weeks away from having a child prevents most floral adventures.

I have been having other adventures though. Of the at home, quiet kind.

Homegrown tomatoes

Like growing my own tomatoes and eating them on toast with basil and balsamic vinegar.

Geometric terrarium

J and I went on a lovely long weekend up to Byron and I bought this terrarium from a shop in Bangalow. My idea was to grow moss to remind me of Japan, but I have hit a bit of a roadblock in that I can't find any moss. Hmm. Can you buy moss?

I guess it goes without saying that we have been preparing the baby's room.

Bunny, giraffe, rattle

My Dad built us a beautiful book shelf and we were given some blocks in Spanish. Such a thoughtful gift.Spanish baby blocks

I have been sewing a play mat for the floor. Patchwork one side, and Richard Scarry-esque boats on the other.Patchwork quilt

And because I can't leave you without a hint of floral - it was my birthday this month and I received this fabulous Rifle Paper card. Can you beat a dog in a floral headscarf? I think not.

Today's title is a song I'm particularly enjoying at the moment as it seems quite apt. Waiting. Soaking up life as an individual. Yesterday I drove to Newtown, bought a new book (The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood), went to a cafe and ordered a giant slice of chocolate cake, sat and read and eavesdropped on surrounding conversations. Lovely. Hopefully we have a baby that likes to do similar things. Ha!
